Is there a way to gift a digital subscription for which there is a free dedicated app? I have been in touch with the publishers who say that Apple controls the digital subscription? I don't want just to give a non-specific gift card.

I use the free Zinio Application for my digital subscriptions. Zinio is available for OS X, Windows, iOS, Android, etc. When you sign up for a digital subscription you can specify who you wish it goes to. If you're referring to gifting someone an iTunes store digital subscription, they would need whatever app is able to download and read the magazine. (Assuming it's a magazine subscription.)

Thanks. Unfortunately Zinio doesn't include this particular periodical; it's not a magazine.

Instead of being cryptic about it, if we knew the Sub and what App you where referring too, then we could help more. As Charlie has mentioned, Zinio, and he got it wrong, and I could mention something else, but until we know exactly what your speaking of, then you know as much as us.

Nothing !!

Okay it's the Bible Reading Fellowship's New Daylight. I subscribe to their Guidelines. There are separate apps for both. Neither of them appears to offer a gift subscription.

Thanks for your interest.
