My G5 Tower just recently started whirring after being on for about 10 - 15 minutes all the time now. I've had this computer for years. Is it the fan? what is it? should i get it checked? is it a sign? would a cleaning help?

Until you get back to Collin, open her up, remove perspex cover and clean her out well and good, with particular attention to the front vent over the front leg. Dust gets in everywhere and can be fatal to any machine.
