I tried resetting the PRAM, reparing permissions, ran Onyx...gave up and did a complete reinstall of OS 10.4

AAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!

My keyboard backlight just quit working from one day to the next! Is there a way to check it without going to a service center? I'm thinking this might be a hardware problem! :[

"illuminate keyboard in low light conditions" is not available in the system preferences. Actually it isn't there at all!

Your keyboard is most likely failing. You can simply call up your nearest Apple Authorized Retailer/Apple Store and order one. I did that with my PowerBook. It'll set you back about 80 bucks. You can have it installed or install it yourself.

Could it be a loose connection? bulb burned out?

Cause the Illuminate Keyboard in low light conditions" option is showing up in the preferences. For awhile it was gone!

When I press the F8, 9 or 10 keys I get the circle with a line through it.
