Full Black Screen After macOS Update

Hi Everyone,

Iam experiencing a black screen issue after updating to the latest macOS version. My MacBook boots up I can hear the startup chime and feel the keyboard light up, but the screen remains completely black.

I have tried the following steps with no success:Resetting the SMC and NVRAM.Booting into Safe Mode.Connecting an external display.
Has anyone else encountered this issue or knows of a solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It might be useful to know what year your Mac is from. This happened to me once, and I ended up replacing my Mac. It was just too old to handle the newest OS at that time.

I think Ian's link Post #3 (Apple Support UK) offers the most solutions but getting into the Recovery Partition is the crucial part. Since we don't know which Mac you have Mx (silicon) or Intel it describes the two distinctly different methods of getting to it.

If it opens as expected then you have a good chance of repairing whatever the issue may be.

It would be good to know what model Mac you have and what macOS you updated from. If it is an older Intel Mac and you skipped a few OS versions a Firmware update may be required.
