fsroot tree is invalid

My iMac has been doing some odd things. I tried to use Disk Utility yo verify the system disk. I am getting an error:

I am looking for clues and guidance about this.

BTW, note that cut and paste into here is showing "inv9lid" but as I see it in disk utility it is "invalid". Odd? Something about this editor?

I'm guessing that "not valid" would be readily accepted. Unfortunately, the word "I n v a l i d" has two meanings - not valid or someone who is disabled. The word checker may not like the second option.

And yet, the checker allowed that word in your Title

Maybe the rules for direct printing and Cut/paste are different?

Boot into Recovery console (CMD+r when powering up) and run the check there with Disk Utility and see if it can fix anything.

In this case you have a particular file that is bad.
