From my About this Mac:
MacBook Pro (13 inch, 2016, Two Thunderbold 3 ports)
2 GHz Intel Core i5
8GB 1867 MHz

I tried the search feature and didn't really find an answer.

Just bought the laptop in March. Track pad is fine. My wireless mouse freezes. All. The. Time.

It has new batteries and I have the trackpad turned to off when a mouse is connected. It is not a Mac mouse. Please don't tell me I have to buy one of their mice, lol.

Please tell me there's a fix to this? I Google and it appears to be a common issue but doesn't really offer anything other than go to the Apple store which is quite a trek for me..

I hate to say it but I have found the apple mouse or trackpad will work the best. I am not fond of the magic mouse but I love the trackpad. I have used a Logitech mouse that required a little receiver and it worked well. I don't remember which model. But if it is a bluetooth mouse - and I tried a couple - I had issues with them skipping.

You can check around your desk to see if there are any sources of interference with the BT signals. Wireless phones, other electronics that may use BT frequencies, etc. They could be causing interference with the connection between the mouse and Mac.

It is not a Mac mouse.

What brand of mouse is it?

Is it USB or bluetooth?

Personally, I have too many problems using Bluetooth mouses. Logitech and Microsoft USB mice see to work the best for our use. We are not gamers.

I still use a cheap wired "iHome" mouse which works well for me. Apple rodents (the wireless ones) seem to work better than the off brands do, however, for some things and precision a wired mouse works best for me.

You must not like using the trackpad on your MacBook Pro?

Thanks for the responses. While I guess I can try a new Apple mouse, there seems to be some posts around the net that it’s an issue with the hardware or software or something ...I just haven’t found a fix. Maybe I’ll get an Apple usb mouse. The trackpad is ok but not for when I’m working in indesign or photoshop.

You might find one in an antique shop. :) Actually, I do have an Apple USB mouse that came with an older MacBook I bought in 2008 and no longer have. It was terrible; the mouse, not the MacBook. ;)

I have a magic mouse and magic trackpad for my Mac Pro. I use the trackpad 99% of the time and I do a lot of work in Photoshop and Indesign - like daily for hours. I have gotten so good at rolling my finger on the trackpad for fine adjustments that I prefer it over the mouse. I know most don't prefer the trackpad, but I had to have carpal tunnel surgery on my left hand (I am left handed) and had to relearn how to do things. I now use my right hand on the trackpad almost exclusively.

Oh, and i have an old apple usb mouse. You won't like it - trust me. They are awkward - the magic mouse is better by comparison.

I trust it is not a Logitech mouse as there have been reported connection issues with them.

+1 !!!!

Apple should have given up making any mouse since their God awful round wired hockey puck mouse. It was a disaster.

Is that for the bluetooth models, like a lot of other bluetooth brand mice???

I've never encountered any such problems with their USB mice.

I agree. Logitech wired USB mice have always been great to use. I've used them for years and never had a problem.

The OP does say it is a wireless mouse and Logitech are woeful. Been other threads about wireless mouse problems. This may help:-
https://www.gottabemobile.com/how-to-fix-logitech-mouse-problems-in-os-x-el-capitan/

That sure hasn't been my experience but the problem he states doesn't affect my Logitech M705, the same mouse he's using or OS X El Capitan:
Users are complaining about how their scroll wheel no longer works in OS X El Capitan. This seems to only affect newer Logitech Mice, like the MX Master and the MX Anywhere 2 that use the new Logitech Options software from the company. Luckily, the issue doesn’t seem to affect older Logitech mice, as my M705 mouse worked fine right away in OS X El Capitan.

Also, for those possibly with the problem, they don't usually have to use the Logitech Options software to enable scrolling.

PS: I do have problems using the Apple mice, especially the button-less models as it seems my finger's capacitance is low. A problem some of the users I know also suffer from.
