Same situation here. Only stays disconnected for a few seconds, but it's irritating. The distance to the iMac from the mouse is only12-18 inches so I don't think the path is too long.

G'day and welcome to the forums.
Do you turn the mouse off at all? If you leave it running it will go into a sleep mode, wake up after you boot up and connect within ten seconds of booting. Also starting is single user mode etc will disable Bluetooth.
