Font sizes in eMac mail

I am having problems with messages in a minute font. I have found out about the settings in Preferences/Fonts and have been able to use a bigger font in the message I was trying to read, but then when I try to reply to it the small font reappears. Similarly I may get two messages from the same person at different times with different fonts.

There seems to be no equivalent to the "apply" command in Windows. How can I pick a font and keep it?

Thanks in advance

Ronald

Font sizes

I am still having trouble with font sizes in Mail. They are now stable in my outgoing messages, but the incoming ones tend to revert to the miniscule size which is so annoying (about 9 I would guess) yet when I check the settings they are all as I left them - at 14.

Once again I would be grateful for any help.

Yes there is and I think I've set it correctly. However, there is another thread running on this topic, and the author thinks the trouble only occurs when a message is received in HTML. I think this may well be right but haven't been able to check it out yet. If this is the case I still don't know what to do about it!

I have now been able to check with two messages from the same person. A Plain Text message is printed using the font I have set, but the HTML message appears in the minute font which is so hard to read.

This seems to prove that Mail is doing something to HTML messages for which I have not programmed it.

Does anybody have any ideas please>

I have just asked Applecare about this problem. Nobody there had ever come across it before and the only idea for dealing with it is to zoom in on the offending e-mail.

If anybody has any brilliant ideas in the future I'll be delighted to hear them - and so I guess will Applecare!
