I am losing my mind.....
Macbook Pro mid 2012
8gig Ram
2.9
500g Sata
was running Yosemite

System started getting the spinning beach ball of death, got progressively worse to the point that I could no longer use the computer.
Came to this forum and started to read and troubleshoot. Nothing worked. Did backup and clean install.
Computer does not see my HDD. Flashing folder.
Determined my HD was pooched. Bought a new 1TB WD drive. Installed.....same thing.
Bought a new cable....no dice. Still the same problem.
Logic board? RAM?.....gremlins????

Let's try a couple of things:

Do you have a bootable CD or DVD that you can try to boot the machine with?

Also.. try to boot with an external USB drive. Let us know the results.
