Hi Guys,

I have a Macbook pro. For some reason I had a problem with the disk, and Disk Utility can't fix it. Now I can't boot into MacOS X.

So I decided to back up my data and format it.
The problem is: I have open firmware password, or at least I thought I had. I just discovered that intel based macs don't support OF password. Only EFI password. Now I'm really confused, because I remember installing the open firmware app. Besides that, everytime I start pressing the alt key, my Mac asks me for the password.

The thing is. Now I want to back up my data, but I need to start with target mode. I know the firmware (OF or EFI) password, but I can't get to any window where it is required. And I can't change the setting of the app, because my mac won't start from the macos X disk.

I'm sorry if this is too long and my english is too bad.

But I really need help. All my school work and fotos are there.

Thank you a lot,

Gabriela
