Since upgrading from Catalina to Big Sur 11.2.3, the Mac Photo Transfer App ver 3.61>>Find Devices does not "Find" my iPhone 4s Plus with iOS 14.2.
On the iPhone>Settings>Transfer>Photos is set to "All Photos"
On the iPhone, Settings>Bluetooth is ON.
On the Mac, the Bluetooth icon is on the Menu bar and the ON/OFF indicator is ON

On the iPhone, clicking on Photo Transfer App>>Send to Mac, and on the Mac Photo Transfer App>>clicking on Find Devices, generates "Discovering Devices" little round spiiner endlessly spinning.

In Cataliina, when I needed to transfer a photo, I'd open Photo Transfer App on both devices, and they'd find each other instantly.

Is there something I need to turn ON.

Is there another way to transfer photos from an iPhone to an iMac?

I will appreciate any thoughts.

Hi stefan, and nice to see you again.

One point confuses me: iOS 14.x can only run on an iPhone 6s or later and certainly not on an iPhone 4s Plus. Maybe that is a typo error?

And an iPhone 4s would almost certainly not be recognised on a Mac running macOS 11 Big Sur (BS).

The conventional way to transfer pictures from an iPhone to a Mac is to connect the iPhone to the Mac via USB and then open the Photos app, click on the iPhone on the sidebar and Import from there or;

Use Image Capture (Applications > Image Capture), again connecting the iPhone to the Mac via USB cable. This method offered alternatives - you can save the pictures to anywhere on the Mac including the Photos app.

I'm assuming the iPhone 4s is a typo. For any iPhone running iOS 14.x, why not use one or other of the two options I mentioned above rather than using the Photo Transfer app??

Ian,
1) You're right, it's a typo. The iPhone is 6s Plus. I apologize.
2) WOW! Image Capture ... who knew? It's perfect.

Since the upgrade from Catalina, whenever I have needed to transfer a photo from the phone to the desktop, I kept wondering, with an occasional expletive, "Why hasn't someone made an app that performs these transfers easily, sensibly, and quickly!"
Well, maybe because someone already had done so.
Thank you so much.
