File Compression for Iphone Downloading

I tried the standard zip compression on mac finder and it wouldn't download on my iphone.

Im trying to compress a folder to put on the web that can be downloaded by any iphone (or any smartphone) without additional apps on their end.

Is there a way to compress a folder (containing mp3 files) that can be downloaded by iphone?
