And plenty of people have Macs. That's not an issue.

I think that's the most important issue!

Even if half of a given person's friends have macs (which according to market share is far from even likely), SOME of your friends will be left out of face timing, and the group will instead choose to text or talk on a normal phone.

At least that's been my real world experience.

Unless facetime goes cross platform it'll never take off significantly.

The way you're describing the "real world" just seems at odds with most people's real world.

Unless facetime goes cross platform it'll never take off significantly.

You mean as opposed to the 100's of millions of iPhones and soon to add 100's of millions of iPads in addition to all the Macs that will be able to use FaceTime.

Yup, that's certainly small potatoes for a user base...

Really? Ok. How often do you guys use it with your people?

100's of millions? I think your using a little hyperbole. I love the iphone and ipad as much as you do but lets not kid ourselves into thinking they're anywhere near universally adopted by the masses.

And even if they're in the lead, if we're talking about a proprietary communication application that only works on 1 platform than it will always take a back seat to the universal application: the phone.

But hey, I guess me and my friends are not the norm and are the only ones not regularly using facetime.

I'm basing it on projected volume of FaceTime compatible phones an iPads in the next 12 to 24 months worldwide. You can easily find the figures online.

Seriously, why are you so unhappy in everything you're posting here? Or are you just trolling?

The Facetime app I download free several months ago still works, will it continue to do so?

Most betas have expiration dates. It will probably work until that point. I mean it is only 99¢ so it's not a huge deal.

I think that's your answer. Probably the beta will eventually end.

I think Tatoo'd got that, not sure about Geesix though.

Doug

Certainly did. I was only agreeing on what others thought about it ways back then.
