I just updated my operating system to Catalina 10.15.04, and all of my photo tags are gone. The message I get is 0 Photos scanned and there is no progress. Any ideas?

Give it time, leave the app open, but in the background minim9zed or in its own “Space”. It just needs time.

A lot of time! My system took just over a month to do facial recognition of about 10,000 images and about a dozen people. But eventually it did finish. As Bob says, leave it running, in the background.

Talked to Apple and they showed me where to look for progress, and that it might take a week. Just happened at a really bad time for me, and without it rebuilt there is no real way to search for the pictures that I need.

Heh! That's what Apple told me, too--a week. Took 4. Hope it works better for you!

The good thing is for some reason the person that I needed to find pictures of scanned early in the process (it was a favorite so Apple may have prioritized the recovery), some other people are still working. I doubt a week from what I have read here.
