Well then you are getting a ping back from Yahoo.

Can you try something? Open System Preferences, Network and Advanced and click on the DNS tab. Try putting in Googles DNS server address's. They try Yahoo. Same results?

Put in both address's one to a line

put it both of the dns numbers on one line each on the dns servers: side of the window. what am i looking for?

btw, there are already three dns numbers in there that i cannot click on or change

Yup. I clicked the plus sign and added the two numbers
