.i plugged my drive in and its all gone...the drive asks to be initialized and i know that meens it went off the deep end....is there ANY way to recover ANY of the info on it....is the drive inside the case an ata? can i send it somewhere to get anything off HELP PLESAE

Before you incur that great expense of having your data retrieved. Try pluging the disk into another system or power your system down. Plug everything in, power up everything. Making sure to power on the computer last. Sometime the system gets confused. if you just plug and unplug a fireware drive.

Just a side note: unmount a file system (firewire dirve) before you power it off.
