I have been using outlook on my mac and configured my emails, it has been working fine until recently. I receive this error code

(my iMAC OX El Capitan is 10.11.5, Outlook for mac 2011 v 14.6.1)

An operation on the server timed out. The server may be down, overloaded,
or there may be too much net traffic. Error code 3259

I have searched the net and found this top that suggests changing port to 587, (Outlook 2011 Error 3259 -"An operation on the server timed out. The server may be down, overloaded, or there may be too much net traffic.")

It doesn't work

I’m using Google apps for my emails, which seem to very fine on any windows machine. My incoming mail server is imap.gmail.com - 993 and smtp.gmail.com for outgoing – 25 which originally worked very well.
I have also tried 80, 3535

This doesn't work either.

Please, if anybody has any ideas how to fix this problem would be appreciated. I purchased outlook especially for the email system and it has been working fine, no changes made to any my mac, firewall if off etc.

Help?

Thanks

By any chance, have you checked to see if there are any updates available for Outlook?

Yes I seem to have the most recent version of office mac 2011 (outlook 14.6.4 ) and it cant update any further until the new release. I tried overriding smtp port numbers but nothing seem to work.
still looking for help!

Thanks for your advice,....I've been to the Mac Office forums but apparently looks like everyone else is busy. I received one reply and they had the same question troubled with the same problem.
Still struggling with this issue and welcome any help.

Thank you again.
