empty trash problems

I have OSX 10.9.5 system. When i´ve tried to empty trash the system is catching the new deleted files and doens´t ever end. How can i solve this? Thanks

Try Secure Empty Trash and if no joy, reboot.

Done!Reboot without re-opening applications was the solution.Thanks.
