Interesting after all that hemming and hawing from the board. They didn't get a better deal from Musk. And of course, that's another social media site that I can now ignore. :)

I agree, Ashwin. They never learn. Anyway, back to the forums where we, at least, try to help people:):)

I expected this but not this quickly.

Once Musk could prove that he was making a serious offer the board was kinda backed into a box canyon with no other way out. Until then they could claim that the offer wasn't serious because surely he wouldn't risk that much of his own money. They could wait a few days to see if he upped the offer but realistically Musk could afford to wait them out for a while.

I'm not a Twitter user but I will be watching to see if he can make changes to the culture of that company.

I have a Twitter account but never really use it much. Probably will really never use it now!

I'm bored with social media. I post my Cat here and there and the odd thing I’m doing and pffft that’s it.

Hopefully Musk buying Twitter wasn't just an "Ego Thing" for him (of course what doesn't he do that isn't an "ego thing")! Lol :mrcool

Hopefully he'll do what's best for Twitter:a...and not what's best for Elon Musk!:rofl

I am ambivalent as to how he will make changes. Managing such a huge mess as Twitter... Trying to set what is okay to post and what is not filtered through bots programed by human perceptions. There is no way to suit everyone when discussing personal beliefs or political subjects etc. Sadly, there are people today that will not respect different opinions and allow others to express there ideas.

I have a Twitter account only because if I have an issue with T-Mobile posting to T-Force gets rapid and excellent service.

Here is the original "agreement" from Twitter (circa 2009)

1650995348475.png

The only restrictions to what could be posted were both narrow and reasonable. Basically, what is barred from any civil discourse because it was illegal or civilly liable: child porn, encouraging suicide, specific violent threats, etc. Now the "restrictions" run for pages and pages including politics the don't like, any criticism of the way covid has been or is being handled, etc. I think if they went back to the original premise, it would be a good thing.

I cannot ever recall visiting the Twitter site world, at least on purpose. And I'd be surprised if that changes with the new owner.

I would be very surprised if it does NOT change. Elon has been consistently "free speech means free speech" in his pronouncements. And his criticisms of Twitter have been harsh that they are blocking exactly that. The other day he said that if the most liberal 10% and most conservative 10% were both unhappy, Twitter would be about in the right place.

Actually Jake, I was actually just referring to my own visitations to the Twitter site not changing. It didn't interest me before, so I doubt very much if that will change. It's just not my thing nor my style.

But otherwise, I agree and think your prediction will be quite accurate.
