easy way to keep certain tracks OFF iPod?

I have over 6000 songs in iTunes. 400-500 are holiday and seasonal songs. Can I highlight the track and keep them from moving to my iPod? I use random play and having these songs on is a distraction to me.

20" iMac C2D 2.16ghz, 13" MacBook 2.0ghz, 60gb iPod vid, 1gb nano
just set your iPod to manual update and drag whatever songs you want on your iPod.
If you don't want to do that i Think if you uncheck each of the songs it won't update them on there
