This is my foirst message to this forum - so sorry if this is the wrong section for my problem.

I have a Dual 1.25Ghz Powermac G4 using 10.2.8 - purchased from Apple last July.

As it has a Superdrive ( Pioneer DVD-RW DVD-105 ) and as a photographer with thousands of digital images to store, I have just purchased some DVD-R's from Apple.

Using either the Finder or Roxio's Toast Titanium 6.0 I am uanble to burn my files to the dvd ( wasted 4 so far ) either a buffer eror or unable to write.

What am I doing wrong.

incidentally calling Apple UK takes you to their technical support in India, who have no idea and seem to be reading from a manual.

I am not near my powerbook at the moment, but I believe there is an option under data tab for UDF. I will have to check to verify.

I just got a change to look at my powerbook. After selecting the Data tab, choose the DVD-ROM (UDF) under the Advanced tab. You should be able to make a readable backup. I have experienced the same problem.

Thanks for that. I called Apple again - sent to "technical support" - back to call centre in India. When I quoted my Customer number, they came up with a name of someone in France. Called Applestore UK again ( based in Eire) - insisted I was not sent to India. eventually got Tammy in Canada,- very helpful but as I was past the 90 day support it would cost £35 to assess the problem. Reluctantly agreed - lots of time spent trying things and now the whole computer goes to an Apple authorised repair centre (center) and is lost for a weekior so. £35 will not be charged - but will the 5 DVD-R's I purchased from Apple used trying to sort this problem be reimbursed?

It looks like I was sold a duff superdrive back in last July and only now - trying to burn dvd's- has this become apparent.

Apple - lovely products, we have 2 powermacs, 2 imacs, 3 powerbooks ( 2 G3, 1 G4 ) in the house and even an old 530c powerbook stored in the garage to give the kids a laugh when they are older ( how I desired that machine) but their customer support is shaky.Next will no doubt be the battery in my ipod - only a few months old but ever since the update a little erratic.
