In launch pad I found I had two identical app icon for Logi Options+ (both the same as in the red circle), however looking in finder there was only a single installation file. So I thought (incorrectly) that removing (uninstalling) the app would get rid of both icons, wrong, I was left with a single icon, as in the blue circle. Re-installation, leaves with the two icons as below, however the app no longer works. I have since tried uninstalling and restart, and re-installation, but nothing seems to either get rid of the bogus icon, and the app still does not work, it opens a purple screen, and a revolving circle. Installation attempt in this situation says the app is already installed.
My assumption is I have some "dross" left in my system, but how do I resolve it, advice (as usual) would be much appreciated.

Can you Trash the "blue" one?
Then, if the uninstaller works, do that and see if the "red" one goes away rather than becoming a reincarnation of the "blue" one.

So managed to delete the blue on in Launch Pad, and uninstalled the blue one, so all gone, however, it still does not work, it did work last time I used it!
I have now removed it from "Input Monitoring" as well, and after the next restart, try a fresh installation.

As far as I know, the icon with the? is like an alias, where the original has disappeared, and when that happens the OS puts in a?.

BTW: after many years of great success with Logitech mice, recent experience and the replacement mouse has ended up with no workable Logitech software actually working properly.

Not even when trying with their older Logitech Control Panel nor their Options software. It was even suggested that the USB dongle was malfunctioning, but the new one they eventually sent did not improve anything.

In the end, I reluctantly gave up trying to get their software to work and downloaded and purchased a copy of SteerMouse as I wanted to customize several of the buttons of my Logitech mice, both an M704 and an M720. It was very annoying that I had to pay so much to get what should work properly.

It's also not as smooth for scrolling as the old Logitech mouse and the Logitech Control Center Software was with my older Mac OS X version I had been using.

Logitech support was virtually useless and quite abrupt. Quite annoying and disappointing.

I've never used the Logitech Control Center software but recent experience with the software controlling their Harmony remote has not left me impressed. They are often behind the times in supporting OS updates/upgrades. Now that they have pretty much gotten out of the remote control market I have even less need for any of their gear.

Yeah, Logitech’s Mice software isn’t held in high regard. I use SteerMouse and it’s quite excellent.
