First gen iPhone SE. I think I wiped it clean enough to give to a shelter, but I"m not sure. I did "Reset to factory settings" - is that enough, I hope? TIA

Yes, that's the right way. When you turn on the phone, it should give you the familiar "Hello" message and allow you to set it up as a new phone.

Yes that is enough. As long as you didnt enter you Apple/iCloud ID credentials, you can donate it.
