If you want legal, it is legal to make back-ups of movies you own. So buy them then put them on a microSD card that can be shipped and then downloaded to the external HDD.

The USB drive is the size of, or smaller than, a pack of cigarettes...much smaller than the HP computer and actually only about 7 cubic inches in size. A stack of 100 DVDs is more than 10 times that volume and only stores one fourth as much as what you can save on the 2TB HDD. And if you are really worried about space, get a 4TB Seagate for a little more money.

Of course mail does not get delivered at sea. But I'll bet that sometimes the boat surfaces and goes into port at which time mail is delivered.

A 64 GB microSD card that is smaller than a postage stamp. If the HP is relatively new, it has a microSD card reader built in. And you can buy a Class 10 (fast) 64GB SanDisk card for around $35 from Amazon. Don't get the cheap ones as they are NG.

Actually you cannot let me explain you need wifi in order to unlock digital movies to be able to play on a device honestly i would purchase a iPod classic or even a iPod touch use your computer and purchase a bunch of movies and music he likes then send him the iPod touch for the holidays as a gift from home
then while he is away he can run all of these videos from his device without having to have wifi

That sounds like a great way to do it if Dad can put the unlocked movies on a microSD card to send to his son. I'm not up on this type of method since I have never purchased movies that way I have a ROKU 3 and Netflix/Amazon/HBO/Show, etc and do not need to save anything anymore.

Are the iPod movie purchases unlocked? Or can they only be viewed on an apple product? Regular unlocked DVD-backups can be made by AnyDVD and decoded with the Worldshare Video Converter Ultimate into a single-file format such as mp4. This would certainly produce much more pleasing results to view on the HP screen than on an iPod Touch.

This is a common misconception, but under US law it is not, in fact, legal to bypass DVD encryption for **any reason whatsoever,** and thus it is, in fact, illegal to to make backups of movies you own.

Thankfully, other countries have more sensible laws than the US in this regard, but this forum follows US law.
