For a hobby/weekend job I collect video media from websites and cut them into short political films. With a PC I would use a program that would intercept streaming video rom the BBC and save it on my computer. It was called WM recorder. is there an eqilivant for the mac?

There is a nice plugin for firefox that lets you download anything in a web page, including embedded video. I don't remember the name... maybe "Download Helper" ?

It lets you download media from many sites when it's embedded in such a way that you can't easily just drop into the page source and download from a link.
