Does Safari have a configuration file like Firefox's about:config?

I'm trying out Safari.

When I go to my bank's website a popup asks if I want to remember the location. I click on "Don't allow". Moments later another popup asks if I want to remember the password. I click on "Not now". On the same day, every time that I go to my bank's website both popups pop up. Why? How do I stop the popups? I've looked around preferences. I see no way to stop them.

If you don't want Safari to remember passwords, open Safari/Preferences/Autofill and uncheck the appropriate box. That change will be universal, not just for any particular site, however.

Thank you for the quick reply.

That solved the password popup. It didn't solve the "wants to know your current location" problem. It doesn't matter whether I choose "Don't Allow" or "Allow". Every time that I go to my bank website the popup pops up! How do I stop that?

I think the location question is coming from your bank, not from Safari. I've never seen that popup for my bank, or any other financial institution. You can try Safari/Preferences/Privacy and turn on Hide IP to see if that helps. I would be surprised if it did, but you never know.

You're probably right. It's probably coming from my bank. I wonder why it makes no difference whether I choose "Don't Allow" or "Allow". It still pops up!

There's no "Hide IP" under Privacy. Only Website Tracking, Cookies & Website Data, Manage website data & Web advertising. I have version 15.5 of Safari.

Hmm, I'm at 15.5 myself and I get this:

Wonder why it's different for you? Safari is tied to the OS, so you are probably also on Monterey 12.4, or something close. I'm on an M1 MBP, but that shouldn't make a difference that I know about.

Hmm!

I have a 2013 MacBook Air & a 2018 Mac mini. Both have Catalina. I reckon that "Hide IP" is on either Big Sur or Monterrey.

According to Apple, a 2013 MacBook Air is obsolete because it is older than 8 years.

If the rumor is true, Apple will be coming out with a 2022 MacBook Air later this year. That's what I want. I'd also like to trade in my 2018 Mac mini & get a 2022 mini.

Yes, it is a new security function in Monterey. Keeps folks from tracking you. Nice feature.
