Does bootcamp come with the new macbook??

hey guys does bootcamp come with the new macbook or would I have to go and buy the software? someone said that it was free?

Bootcamp is a free download... You have to purchase windows.

nope boot camp does it all for you. Boot camp makes windows installer think there are things there that are really not allowing it to install on your computer just like you would install it on a pc with a bios.

No. Macs have an EFI instead of a BIOS like all other PCs. Windows doesn't support EFI, so Boot Camp enables the EFI to emulate a BIOS to trick Windows. It works fine.

The thing is that the EFI firmware architecture that the Intel Macs use was originally designed to replace BIOS in PC's, and give some great Mac like features to PC's, but then M$ dropped the idea because it was too costly - Catch-22 -

....Microsoft are driven by low prices not innovation.....!

So EFI has backward compatability support for MBR which is used on all BIOS PC's to record where the partitions are on a disk.

So you have the possibility to install Windows XP SP2 on a Mac using Boot Camp. Boot Camp will do it all for you and repartition your HD for Windows to be installed.

You need the latest version of Windows XP which will include Service Pack 2.

Make sure to back up all your data first.
