Have iMac with Big Sur onboard. Cannot open contents of Documents folder. When I open Documents folder from Finder, there is nothing in it.
However, when I do search for something, then the contents of the folder comes up. Assistance requested.

You may have inadvertently enabled iCloud Drive to sync your Desktop and Documents folders. This means you would need to look in the iCloud Drive folder in the Finder sidebar.

Looked in that iCloud folder and there is a sentence across the middle of the folder screen which reads "You can move your existing documents to iCloud by dragging them here from the Finder or other apps" Other than those words there isn't anything else in there

Ok, then you did not enable that option. It seems you have multiple Documents folders. What are you using to search for the files?
