Documents and music folders............

When I reinstall Windows on my PC, the data in the 'My Documents' folder will be all gone. Does this apply to the documents and music folders of OSX?

Normally all your Data is gone as you would normally Format it and then Reinstall, I've never actually tried it without doing it like that. :s

If you do an Archive and Install, your personal stuff is kept aside and is available when you want it again. Why are you planning on reinstalling the OS?

Just curious! Because this happens to Windows whether I format the disk or not as the folder is part of the OS.
