Do not disturb - can I ‘un-mute’ notifications from an app?

Preemptive thanks for any help. I have an app for monitoring a remote camera at work (my employer installed it, not me, so can’t change to a different method for this monitoring). I use Do not Disturb at night, but would still like to receive audible notifications from this app; is it possible? Could I add an app to a ’favourites’ contact group some-how for instance? Thanks again for any help.

Welcome to our forums.

It may be possible to receive an audible notification from the App by adding it to your "Contacts". I would test it first to be sure it works though. I personally keep the "Do Not Disturb" feature on at all times for my phone and that of my wife. It's not perfect but it does eliminates spam calls and spam texts.

There are two exceptions to the Do Not Disturb (DND) in iOS and one is what 'chscag' mentioned, which is to favorite a contact to allow them to get through and the other is a repeated call. But, both of these deal with contacts calling you on the phone and not notifications from an app. The way the app gets notified is through push notifications and its definitely listening, but will not be able to bypass DND to let you know.

I am by no means an expert but could IFTTT (If this then that) be programmed that if the application was activated DND was disabled? Or have IFTTT sound the alarm? As I said I'm not an expert (I actually don't use IFTTT at all, even though I did download it at one time.) but it seems this is the perfect application for IFTTT.

Maybe a “Shortcut” can be used as a workaround?
