Do I even need Antivirus software for Mac?

I've read in several places that nobody writes viruses that plague the Mac OS. Is that true? And if I was to get some antivirus software, what should I use? I hated Norton when I was strictly a PC user and have McAfee Viruscan on my PC now, but it doesn't appear they have a version for Macs. Any suggestions? Thanks. (And I apologize if this is in the wrong forum.)

Yup, not really any viruses for mac (classic has like 3), if you want I can write one for you... but.. everyone with a mac feels the same as I do.. why bother writting a virus for mac?
