Feel stupid and very newbie again.

I've got a .dmg-file here.
When I doubleclick it, disk copy opens and the mac starts to do things. After that disc copy quits and that's it. What happened ? What's a .dmg file? How can I reach the files in the .dmg file?

dmg files are disk images, they should create a little fake drive on your desktop, you would open that drive and the stuff in the disk image should then be accessible.

Hmmm... this doesn't happen. Must be a corrupt file or something.

they should throw up an error though if they are corrupt. that is strange, i dont know what to tell you.

Maybe you could open Disk Copy and then go to file-> mount image

this should mount the image....if its not corrupt
in fact this is the non automatil way to open a DMG

so i'm not sure if this would work...
i hope it will
