I have a commission at the moment where I will be turning a dozen or so wooden lids for cocktail glasses and the logo is a diagram of a giraffe's head/neck. I need to curve it to pyrograph on to the lid in a curve.

I have searched to try to find how to do it, but can't find a way?

I have Photo Shop Elements 2022 but there doesn't seem to be a way on there and I don't know where to look now?

Any ideas please folks?

To be honest, John, I didn't understand what it is you are trying to do. I had to look up pyrography, which I understand now, a bit. But what transformation do you need to make to the image? I'm struggling to visualize what it is you need to do.

It is a line drawing approximating the shape of a giraffe's neck and head and I have to pyrograph it on to some lids that are going on to glasses that will hold 'smoky cocktails' (don't ask  ) and I wanted to bend what are fairly straight necks to fit the curve of the edge of the lids. They are for a local hotel, now owned by an American.

Sorry for any confusion?

Affinity Photo has a "mesh" tool that let me distort this:

Into this:

Might that do? I just used the mesh tool on the original and dragged it from the upper right corner to where you see it and the rest of the picture distorted to match. Might take some fiddling to get what you want, but then I just clicked "Apply" and exported the image to post here.

Thinking about it I think that I can get that on to the lids without deformation?

I'll give it a try tomorrow. It doesn't look as if it'd going to be tooooo healthy to go out!

Yeah, stay inside. The storm sounds really ugly for you guys tonight.

Does the ENTIRE image need to be on the lids? I ask because you could trim out the necks a bit. Something like this:
Round giraffe.jpg

Believe it or not, it's round. I just used Affinity to select a circle, based on the bell, to get both heads and to clip the necks a bit.

Good idea Jake. I think I have it cracked for the lids, but the clipped version may well work for the 'smoker' bit. I'll post the photos when I have done them.

Ta.

Cracked it Jake

And quite pleased with the result

Smoky cocktail bits 1.JPG

It didn't need the distortion after all, but ta for the ideas and I did crop the neck on the 'smoker', left hand bit.

Ta mate. Just another 5 lids to finish and seal. The lids will be sealed with hard wax oil and the 'smokers' will be left raw oak as they will be having a blow lamp used on them to light the shavings!

Sounds like a crazy fadd to me? But he wants, I supply, he pays

And I can afford to buy a new spindle gouge:rolleyes:
