Hi, am new to macs, and am considering buying a G5.

I don't really understand the pricing they give me at the apple website. It says that it costs a certain amount for the 1.6 ghz G5, but it seems that I also have to buy a display? It the price really going to be that high? Is there anywhere else where I can buy a display?

you don't have to buy an apple display, they just give you the option right there so you don't have to go searching through the rest of the site. the powermacs have an ADC (apple display connector) and a DVI port, but you can use any standard CRT monitor, because the powermacs all come with a DVI to VGA adapter in the box.

But still, the g5 doesn't come with a display?

The G5 does not come with a display. The display is purchased separately.
