(solved) Disabling "Auto-play" when downloading MP3s?

I work on amateur design projects and am a little irritated at my Macbook Pro constantly booting up a media player every time I download an MP3 file from a friend or from the internet (music or sound clips) . It clogs up my computer's processing, which is very inconvenient when I'm also in the middle of creating a model in Blender.

Is there a way to disable this auto-play feature?
I uninstalled iTunes because it takes up way too much processor when I'm working on stuff, but now my Macbook is trying to forcibly load Windows Media Player on Parallels

It sounds as if you've set your browser to open downloaded files. What browser are you using?

I'm using Safari.
I just looked under Preferences but am not seeing an option...

Safari > Preferences > General > uncheck "Open 'safe' files after downloading" (you should uncheck this anyway - it's a terrible "feature" from a security standpoint).

I was looking too hard for specific music or file options, not just a general option like that. ^^;
