Hi there

I've created an encrypted partition to store my personal data and documents like I did on my Linux desktop.

On Linux, I was able to hide the partition from Dolphin (Plasma KDE) and I created a script to mount the partition when I want to read/write data.

On my Mac Mini (2012) with Catalina, the partition is also hidden from Finder but, whenever I login, a dialog pops up to unlock the disk (partition) by entering the password. I don't want this behaviour at all. If the partition was set to be a safe and secure partition for my personal files, I want to be able to mount it only when I desire. For instance, by using Disk Utility to mount it or by a script, just like I did on Linux.

Is there anyway to disable this dialog window on login?

Have you tried setting the appropriate permissions in the Get Info window for the volume drive???

Or have a look through some of these hits for a solution that would work and suite your usage here:

When you say "partition" that may be the problem, assuming you have actually created a partition the behavior is normal because the OS wants access even if you don't display it

I have used Disk Utility to create an Encrypted Disk Image (.dmg) in the past. It can be made whatever size you want. Do not store the Password in Key Chain (it's an option) and you have a safe storage space that does not ask for a password until you attempt to launch it.
Note; if you forget the password the data will be lost.

When you shut down/restart the Mac, there is a box that has a checkbox to "reopen windows when logging back in".

Also look in System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login items. It may be enabled there.
