diagonal lines across screen

Hi, Ive got a problem with my macbookpro and im hoping someone on here can help.

About a year ago I got diagonal pixelated lines across the screen so I restarted it a few times and it started working fine then quite a few months later it did it again, this time I restarted it many times and it wasent solving the problem. I restarted it and reset the PRAM and that didnt work. after restarting it loads more it came back and has worked fine until now.

ive attached some images to show you the problem.
over the last two days its has been doing in regularly. after restarting in loads it sometimes works for 5 mins then it will happen again so ill restart loads more and it could works for the mins before doing it again.

can someone help ?

Year, model of your MBP? Reason we need this is that your problem certainly looks like it may be a defective graphics chipset. Apple has extended the warranty on certain model MBP machines which contain the nVidia chipset. You can read about it here.

Its a 15" model and Im pretty sure i got it january 2007.

Have to agree with Charlie on this one. Certain looks like the Graphics card is surely going. Do you have access to a  store ?? I would take it someone anyways to have them have a look at it. IF its a defective Graphics Chipset as in the article Charlie linked you too, they should swap it out for you and make it right. Cant loose anything unless they tell you they wont

well I took it to my local apple store and unfortunately it isn't one of the MBP covered by the extended warranty.

they said it would be £520 to fix so I think the best thing to do is just buy a new one

ive seen this on the refurb store but am I better off just spending an extra £150 and getting a brand new one ?
