Deleting App Icons from iPhone 5S

iPad 2015 model/iMac 2014 - iMAC Sierra 10.12.5
Still in learning curve on my new iPhone. Downloaded an app that I do not want. User guide has lots to say about moving apps around on home screen, or moving apps between first page and next page of home screen, but I find nothing about deleting an app when unwanted. I tried dragging it around some, but it still went back to its original position.
Any ideas, advice, help - all VERY welcome ;)

Too many devices to list
When the apps start to "jiggle," there is an X in the top left hand corner. Click that and the app will be deleted.

Or, you can attach your iPhone to your Mac through iTunes and uninstall any apps you wish that way. Just click remove on those apps you no longer want from the iPhone apps dialog in iTunes and then press sync.
