Lars and the Real Girl, on the other hand, I do remember.
There have been similar Japanese films, some documentary, some fiction.
The story line and reinterpretations of the Greek myth of Pygmalion are rare, but they do crop up from time to time.
Still, they are rare enough that most would still consider this one to be an original film.
You're digging though.
I never said that there were no such things as original movies, but only attempted to illustrate that the overwhelming majority (probably 90% or more) of movies released by Hollywood are completely stale, unoriginal ideas.
I know, it's a shame.
The book was superb. The Swedish movie very entertaining as well.
But, we obviously need a dumbed-down, over stimulated and action-packed American version.
Okay, that's Law Abiding Citizen. The Good Citizen had Gerrard Butler and Jamie Foxx.
IWTV was a revolutionary book in 1976.Interview with the Vampire.

I don't know why people complain/about this stuff as no one is holding a gun to anyone's head forcing them to see the movies.
That being said, I go to the movies to be entertained, and that is something Quentin Tarantino has been able to accomplish a few times with me. I couldn't care less if it was based/ripped off/remade from something else that I was not alive at the time to see in the theatres.
Okay, that's Law Abiding Citizen.
For the record, I know that most movies are simply rehashing the films of years past.
This isn't entirely a bad thing.
What I take umbrage to is when someone blatantly rips off another movie (plot, name, etc) and then tries to sell it as an original idea.
Being inspired by and/or paying homage to a film or genre is one thing... outright stealing the storyline and renaming the characters is another.
What really surprises me with many of these is how soon people forget the movies... at least their plots, because before you know it another movie with the same story/different name is a coming attraction... and the public really believes they are getting something fresh, new and different.
I thought the same thing... only I thought that Legion was yet another sequel in The Prophecy series.I saw the preview for Sorority Row during D9 and seriously thought it was a "I Know What You Did Last Summer" sequel.
Taken is similar to Man on Fire.
It can also fall under the "you-killed-my-loved-ones-and-got-off-easy-so-now-I'm-gonna-get-my-revenge-and-kill-you-myself" movies... though the loved ones were only kidnapped.
High Five.
I like movies. I like movies that other people think are cheesy. That's because zombies rule.
Zombie movies used to freak me out, now I can't wait until 28 months later.
I have only seen the 28 days series, Dawn of the Dead, and Shaun of the Dead.
Any recommendations?

Zombieland is coming out soon.
Diary of the Dead
Fido
Just two off the top of my head. Most of the "of the Dead" series are worth watching.
Now, I don't want to watch bad movies. I enjoy ones with a plot...not just senseless gore.
Are they good in the plot department? I like the idea of a last few people on earth running from what seems like impossible odds.
