It Worked
Hello. I saw your posting, and it was like deja vu. I did the following and it worked....subtitles and all. Thanks for the help.
To burn an existing VIDEO_TS folder:
1. Launch Toast and select the Data tab.
2. In the drawer, select "Advanced" at the top.
3. Select the "DVD-ROM (UDF)" format.
4. Click on the "New Disc" button at the bottom of the layout.
5. Use the "Add" button to select your VIDEO_TS folder, or drag and drop the folder into the Toast window.
6. Now you can add additional data content or burn the disc.

I backed up a few dvd's of mine. First, using DVDBackup (remove Macrovision, region,...). Then, using DVD2oneX to make it fit on one disk.
Problem: First, I played the movie from the VIDEO_TS folder that was created by DVD2one. Everything worked, audio and subtitles were present and working.
Then, I used Toast 6 to burn this VIDEO_TS folder, following the regular procedure, being
1) Select the VIDEO tab, 2) select DVD video 3)Renamed the DVD title "My DVD" to whatever the movie was called, added the VIDEO_TS folder to this new DVD, hit the record button and wait.
After finishing, took out the disk, put it in my crappy standalone DVD player,... worked fine (toast even created an ocean-looking startup-menu for my dvd), but I could not get the subtitles on the screen.
Put the disk in my Mac, the DVD also worked fine, but also no subtitles.
To make sure, I played the movie again on my Mac from the VIDEO_TS folder tat I just burned on the disk, and they really are working just fine.
I guess this is a stupid thing I forgot to click or so, but I can't find out what it is.
By the way, I used to do the same with Toast 5.2, and the results were good (subtitles also worked).
Thanx in advance
