Connecting my 1st gen ipod to my imac?

27" imac
can anyone help me with this? is there a firewire to usb or any cable I can use that I"ll be able to plug into my imac? i haven't been able to use my ipod in months since I cant seem to find a cable that will work.. I probably should post this in this ipod forum??
