I have used cmd+click to copy items (usually photos) to move them somewhere else or upload, but now it mostly won't work. I hold down the cmd key, choose my photos and then the selections are unselected. Sometimes I can manage to hold onto four or so. If I'm trying to upload to a web page (generally facebook), the selections are undone and the the album scrolls back to the first shots. Suggestions please.

OS is up to date - 10.11.6 I've also rebooted.

The Tall Ships Race left a little port near me today (Blyth, Northumberland, UK). I was lucky to get a place on a boat offshore to photograph the ships as they set off.

What Mac are you using and are you using a keyboard/trackpad or a mouse, wired or wireless?

Mac as in profile; trackpad & integral keyboard. Just started happening.

Try using Shift+click to choose your items, and then hold down the Option key to drag and copy them.

Do you have the option to use another wired or bluetooth keyboard? Just to see if it's the integral keyboard at fault.

Tried that but shift+click selects others as well which I don't want. Googled extensively and cmd+click is the correct combo. It worked up until about 10 days ago.

Rod - no, I don't have any peripherals I could try. Keyboard ok apart from this and no spills etc. MBP is only six months old.

The reason I asked is because I have just had a late 2015 13" MBP replaced by Apple for a very similar problem. At first it was just a few function keys like sound and command keys. But it worsened over time to a point where neither the track pad or any of the keys worked unless I rebooted. I did find a reference to an identical problem online and found similar logged readings in Console to that OP. Apple Genius Bar tech admitted that this problem had occurred once or twice and replaced the connection cable between the logic board and keyboard/trackpad to no avail. On the second visit replaced the whole "top half". When that failed to fix the problem they rather surprisingly offered to either replace almost all of the internal circuitry or just give me a new one. At all times the device worked perfectly with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse which is why I asked if you had access to one.
Other symptoms I had were "sticking" keys, ie pressing d would result in ddddddddd. So if you start experiencing other issues and it seems to be more frequent I would consider taking it to an Apple service Center especially if you have no Apple Care and its approaching 6 months old as mine was. I now have extended Apple Care on the new one, just in case.

Thanks Rod. I did buy Apple Care, partly feeling guilty because they gave me this new machine FOC, after four and a half years of trouble with my original 2011 MBP and then a replacement.

I am recording problems and will keep an eye on this - for instance there have been a few graphics blips for which I have screenshots as this was the symptom of logic board failure on my first machine. Going off immediate topic, and I'll move it if necessary, but what do you think of these (Aug 11 & 12)?

Well, that sure looks like a graphics rendering issue and I cant say that has ever been an issue on either of my MBP's. Are these persistant or frequent issues? I mean do they resolve easily by clicking on the screen or do you have to close the window and reopen or worse, restart? It could also be a Finder issue. I take it you have done some investigation like running Disk Utility First Aid or OnyX?

Intermittent and not happened for last two weeks. Can't remember whether I had to close window or it went away, didn't have to reboot. Because of previous history I'm keeping an eye out for anything odd. Have run Onyx recently because of spinning wheel on some apps.

Sue,

I well remember the posts concerning your previous experience and the endless trips to Newcastle. You were, in the end, treated honourably by Apple; but time moves on and despite your understandable reluctance or embarrassment, another trip to the Apple Store seems the best option.

Anyway, we need you to have a good functioning Mac to sustain your considerable input to these Forums:)O:)

Oh noes, I just received a new MBP FOC to replace my Late 2011 15" MBP too.

Have you tried NVRAM or SMC reset to see if that would help with the issues?

No, I haven't. I tied myself in knots with this sort of activity :Not-Amused:with the first MBP and I'd book a genius bar appointment first.

Of course click+cmd has worked fine since starting this thread!

I know I did and it didn't help with my issue. It seems a shame when I read a post from the owner of a 2007 MBP who doesn't know what to do with his perfectly functional device because it cant be updated to an OS that will run current apps. Has Apple outlived it's longevity? I got 5 years out of my 2011 MBP and only upgraded for CPU and graphics requirements, not because it wasn't working. Will I get 5 years out of this one? :|
