Is there a way to make Preview close after the last image is closed? Kind of like photobooth closes the entire program when you hit the X button.

That's a good question. It's actually something the programmer decides when writing the application. Even iPhoto quits after closing the main window, as do many other apps.

I'm interested in this too, there might be a way of setting this parameter externally.

I just use all keyboard shortcuts. Normally, I'd be hitting apple+w, but instead, I hit apple+q. It saves actually using the mouse to either hit buttons or navigate windows and ensures the program quits when you want it to.

I don't know if there's any plugin that do that, but if you use keyboard shortcuts like that, you don't really need one. Personally, I think shortcuts are a much faster, and more efficient way of using OS X- probably why they're called shortcuts ;) I rarely click on anything now - only to drag and drop, and for menu actions that don't have a shortcut.

I do that too but sometimes I forget and when I go down to my dock its still running and I have to go close it. Not difficult but that preference would be very convenient if possible.
