clean install

just got preowned mac running snow leopard but cannot access due to
sysadmin password not known
I want to do clean install with installation disc question how do I wipe drive first

If it is just an account password that is not too hard to get past. You can simply insert the disk and reboot the system holding down the C key. That should let you boot from the CD. if it is a firmware password that will be a little more difficult to get past. Can be done but I'll have to look that up.

Thanks but already tried holding down c key whilst rebooting with installation disc in drive but it does not work thanks anyway

Go to Apple Online and lash out $20 to buy Snow Leopard OS X.6 DVD. Boot from that, format the hard drive and do a clean install. Everything on the drive will be wiped.

Thanks Ian alas it is showing all and sundry how old I am getting.

Nick has just on 30,000 so he must be 50% older than me, poor devil!
