Hi,
I'm trying to help out a friend with his vintage G4 Model 8570 EMC 1914 running OS 9. It has to run OS 9 because of his old audio software that cost him lots of $$.
It started yesterday when he turned it on it said there was an error on the disk and it did a repair then rebooted
After the reboot the screen had all different coloured blocks going up the screen then it powered off
Now when you press the power button the light briefly lights up then goes off, no fans spin and no noise from HDDs
I have tried
Removing the internal battery
Pressing the PMU reset button
Removing all RAM
Just inserting 1 stick of RAM
Removed all 4 PCI sound cards
Removed graphics card
I did them all one at a time then removed everything and tried pressing the power button after each thing and its always the same with the power light
I'm thinking it has to be motherboard or PSU
The PSU isn't a standard ATX PSU in this model, and the cable colours dont match a standard ATX PSU either
He has another G4 model 5186 EMC 1864 but it only has 3 PCI slots and he needs 4, this one has a normal looking ATX PSU in it
Thanks
