I can't get rid of a red badge alert with the number "1" in its center on my dock icon for Settings. When I go to Settings to find what the issue is, there is no red badge alert in the left column. If there is an alert in the left column, then the alert on my dock icon had a number > 1 in its center. When I take care of that issue, the alert with the number 1 still persists on my dock icon.

Firstly, a very warm welcome to our Forums.

Try this: Open System Settings then Click on Notification and see if there is an alert therein.

Normally, the "1" superimposed on the Settings icon in the Dock refers an update or similar, but on occasion it can relate to a Notification.

Please let us know if this helps. If not, we might be able to offer alternatives.
