If you do use Chrome, make sure you also do the following:
- set your search engine to be Duck Duck Go, not Google
While DuckDuckGo is a secure search engine, it's results often suck. So what to do instead? How about using Google and Bing without any possibility of tracking? That's what SearX does. It "scrapes" any search engine's results that you set it for, but it doesn't give those search engines any of your personal information. The best of all world's.

(be sure to set Google and/or Bing as the search engine(s) to use in the upper right Preferences. And then make sure to hit "Save.")
- set as much as you can to disable tracking, setting cookies by 3rd parties, etc.
You can't disable the spyware included in Google's Chrome. It's how they make their money, it's their entire business model.
