Hey guys, I've been doing some research online and have found some pretty contradictory opinions so far. Just bought a new MacBook Pro the other week. What is the best way to charge the battery? Is it best to use the laptop plugged in and let the battery run down occasionally? Or is it best to run the battery down to about 2% and then charge back up again and repeat that process every time? I have also read that it is best to let the battery go down to about 70% before charging back to 100% and then taking off charge again when it gets to 100%?

in your OSX help, apple suggests you calibrate the battery once a month by letting it drain from fully charged, then letting it rest for 5 hours before charging it back to 100% with no interruption.

as for extending your battery life - its best to use the battery whenever possible. charge-recharge cycles are better than a continuous charge at 100%.

if you are going to store your computer for some time, store it at 50%.
