Since I upgraded to CC psd has a new interface. Even when there is no image loaded I get a sort of desktop that blocks all the underlying windows of my computer. I cannot switch it off in de preferences I only want to see the toolbar, nothing else. How to get rid of the thing?

I am not sure what you are referring to. I currently work with Photoshop CS6 but I tried CC for a year - didn't like it. But I don't recall the interface being that different and I am not sure what you mean by "a desktop that blocks all the underlying windows." Maybe post a screenshot?

Yes, thanks yogi! Coming from a 35+ year Windows background and just jumping into macs in the last 3 years I had no idea that feature was available in Photoshop - but only on the macs. Interesting tidbit.
