The two opposites of the spectrum for this discussion...where the choice is a bit easier are:
1. Easier to give up the car if you live in some big cities (like New York or Chicago) where you can reside & work...and walking or public transportation is convenient.
2. Easier (or necessary) to give up the computer if you live in a very rural area where personal transportation is the ONLY way to "get to town" for work & purchasing essentials.
Of course there are lots of "in between" situations where giving up either is or would be...very very difficult.
